The Campus is set in a beautiful estate including extensive farmland in Babraham in Cambridgeshire. It is a government funded research facility and features the very impressive Babraham Hall as its centre-piece which is now used as an administration and conferencing centre which has retained all of its original features and is painstakingly maintained so as to preserve the history and beauty of the building.
The refectory was looking very tired and dated featuring a very "eighties" colour scheme of yellows, blues and greys and the client wished to return to a scheme more in keeping with the fabric of the building and its history.
After a fair bit of research and checking back the colour scheme you see was selected using Farrow & Ball colours and we feel the result speaks for itself giving the refectory the warm welcoming feel that suits the surroundings. In all there are 15 different shades and variants of colours in the scheme and some areas of antiquing and distressing were carried out to give a "not brand new" feel.
We were very pleased to be able to participate in this project and as a result we were asked to carry out works in many other parts of the campus including a complete external refurbishment of the engineering departments buildings, many of the research laboratories and a wide variety of other painting projects at this location.
